Cobram – plentiful camping.

Cobram has so many great camping grounds that it took me weeks to leave.

I ended up staying at Dead River Beach, in the Murray River Reserve, for quite some time. When a campsite is as good as this, packing up to go is easy to put off. I ended up staying for Easter and inviting friends from Melbourne to visit. Just west of town, take the road to Tocumwal. Take the first road to the right, called Racecourse Road, and follow it to Dead River Beach, keeping close to the river and staying on the most used track.

A large circular camp area and a huge beach camp on the river is what you will find at the end of the road. On the way in, other smaller campsites are dotted along the river. The toilets are OK here. Easter was taxing on them though.

Horseshoe Beach is another campsite in Cobram Regional Park, to the east of town. Take the Barooga Road through town then turn south onto River Road on the town side of the bridge. After about 5km, turn towards the river onto Horseshoe Track and follow to the end. Camping here is on the riverbank. Nice and bushy here with lots of room the dogs to explore. No toilets here, so be prepared.

There are more campsites around here, so do your research and enjoy!
