Burrowye – BEAUTIFUL with spare space for dogs.
Burrowye Reserve is an absolutely beautiful area with oodles of room for dog travel.
It has a mix of river flats, river beaches and a beautiful river for swimming and fishing.
This sparkler is situated on the C546 25km west of Walwa, right on the Murray River.
There are no facilities. Take out all your rubbish. You can bury toilet waste but it must be 100m from the river.
I had enough phone reception to make calls using Telstra, but it was fluky. Up higher towards the road would be better reception.
Your guidebook may state no dogs, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. The local ranger assured me the only reserve that is dog free is the nature reserve along the Murray River just east of Jingellic. No signs are here stating ‘no dogs’. Pick up a free copy of “The Murray River GUARDIAN” if you see one. It has lots of information about camping by the Murray River.
