Towong

Towong Reserve is swimmingly good fun along the Murray River.

Towong Reserve is a fun spot. It is lined on the roadside with huge shady trees and on the other side with a wide stretch of the Murray River. Swimming or floating around the river here is the order of the day.

The campsite is positioned beside the Murray River bridge on the border of New South Wales and Victoria, about 60km south of Tumbarumba and 25km south of Tooma.

The long drop toilet was unbearable for a sensitive nose.

Phone reception was very good with Telstra.

The Reserve does straddle the road, but even on a weekend I found this campsite to be visited by day site seers, locals jumping in for a dip and motorbike riders stopping for a rest. By night this is a very quiet spot. Perfect place to watch a full moon rise along the river and reflect a beautiful light on the fast moving Murray.
