Terramungamine Reserve just north of Dubbo is a handy camp by the river.
Dubbo has a pleasant and convenient campground just to the north, off the Gilgandra road. The turn off is at Brocklehurst, which is 10km north of town or 57km south of Gilgandra. Take the Terramungamine Road for 4km to Terramungamine Reserve. The campsite is beside the Macquarie River. There is lots of room here to explore and relax.
It is a good base to explore Dubbo’s many attractions. Aboriginal grinding grooves can be found at a rocky outcrop near the campsite.
The rest area near Dubbo has picnic tables and fireplaces are dotted around, along with barbecues, which were pleasant to mingle around. It seems to be a popular area, although the way it is set up allows for a good number of campers without being too cramped.
A large area is fenced off above the camping grounds, which is where the brick building housing the flushing toilets are found. This area is great to take the dogs for a stroll and a sniff.
