The grounds and facilities at Coopernook State Forest Camp Ground are great for the dogs.
Only a few kilometers of dirt road into the Forest from Coopernook, this Camp Ground is a doggy oasis, hiding just off the Pacific Highway. So close to town and yet it felt so far from everything.
There are heaps of tracks and roads to get lost in at Coopernook. Exploring the roads snaking through the forest present a few surprises, including one leading to a lookout.
The Camp Grounds at Coopernook were spacious and the flushing toilet a bonus. You do need to bring your own water though, as the water available is for the toilet.
A good supply of covered picnic tables and fireplaces are placed throughout the grounds.
This is the kind of place you can stay for quite a while. The dogs had a ball here with so much room to move. I certainly hope to return here one day, week or month.
All this for free! All you need to do is bring some firewood, water and take out your rubbish.
